Introduction and Vision
It’s official: The Bombers are proud to announce our entry into the the Mid-America Basketball Association (MABA) for the upcoming season. This move marks a pivotal step in our journey — from an ambitious local club to a semi-professional competitor on a broader regional stage. With this transition, our goals are clear: elevate on-court performance, deepen community connections, and build a sustainable, high-integrity basketball program that players, fans, and partners can believe in.
In this article, we share the backstory of this decision, what joining MABA means, what to expect in the first season, and how supporters can be part of it.
What Is the Mid-America Basketball Association (MABA)?
The Mid-America Basketball Association (MABA) is a competitive semi-professional basketball league serving the central and midwestern United States. It was established to bridge the gap between amateur and professional play—providing a platform for former collegiate athletes, international players, and elite local talent to continue competing at a high level. The league emphasizes player development, community involvement, and regional pride, creating an organized system for teams to gain visibility, grow their fan bases, and contribute to their local sports culture.
The MABA’s current lineup features several strong organizations that reflect the league’s regional reach and competitive spirit: the Wichita Wizards, the Central Kansas Twisters (based in Hesston, KS), the North Tulsa Natives, the Oklahoma City Servants, the Tri-State 66ers (based in Pittsburg, KS), and the Oklahoma Kings (based in Oklahoma City). Each team represents a unique community with a shared mission—to elevate basketball across the Mid-America region and provide opportunities for players and fans alike to experience high-level, entertaining competition.
Through its structured regular season, community events, and league-wide tournaments, the MABA continues to build a reputation as one of the region’s most promising platforms for semi-pro basketball. The league’s focus on professionalism, player advancement, and fan engagement has made it an exciting and growing destination for athletes and basketball enthusiasts throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, and beyond.
Looking Ahead to March 2026
The Bombers’ debut season is set to tip off in March 2026, marking the beginning of a new era of semi-professional basketball in Cowley County. Between now and then, we’ll host open tryouts, finalize our coaching staff, and announce our inaugural roster. Fans can expect updates, player spotlights, and event announcements as we count down to our first official game in the Mid-America Basketball Association.
